This year, for the first time, the 9th International Science Film Festival, a scientific interest Festival, the only one in Greece, which is held with great success since 2006, will take place from 31 August until 7 September 2015, in a gorgeous Greek landscape with the endless blue and the dazzling sun of Paros as a background, at Paros Park.
As every year, at the competition section of the Festival, a line of remarkable films of scientific interest will be able to claim six awards, which will be given by the jury and the public. The topics varies: Astronomy, Biology, Environment, Image and Education, Society and Science, New Technologies, Science and Art. Each day includes three or four films, and lectures of distinguished scientists of various scientific fields.
Saturday 5/9 is a special day, while the astronomers of Sparta will accompany us on a wonderful space observation night.
Journalists and guests from different scientific areas and various research centres, coming from several countries around the world will honour us with their presence.

The International Science Film Festival of Athens (ISFFA) is unique in Greece and ranks among the top events in Europe and internationally. The aim of ISFFA, is viewers to experience an affordable and fun way to new achievements of science in areas such as new technology, medicine, biology, psychology, physics, astronomy, etc., and ask themselves on ethical issues and other concerns of modern science. The parallel events of the festival make it an exciting experience for the audience:
- Special tributes to research centres in different countries with special interest and rich in research and science communication through the seventh art.
- Student screenings of selected films that reflect the age of the children.
- Lectures and discussions with the presence of important representatives of the research and scientific community from the invited countries and Greece.
- Activities of scientific and cultural interest.
The 7th Athens International Science Film Festival: Science and Science Fiction took place on October 24 until November 30, 2013, by tendering projections scientific documentaries and numerous satellite events (student views, contemporary art exhibition, concert experimental music, speeches, thematic book fair, workshop International Science Film Festival) and performed co-funded by Greece and the European Union under the Operational Programme “Attica” (MIS 390 506). As part of the 8th International Science Film Festival in Athens held a round-table on “Racism and Violence”. In the discussion involved students from various fields of study, who expressed their views on the issue, while coordinating the discussion undertaken by Associate Professor of Philosophy and Theory of Law Institutions in the Department of Philosophy & History of Science, University of Athens, Aristides Hatzis. The festival is hosted in the cinema halls major research or cultural institutions: National Research Foundation, American Union, French Institute, Cervantes Institute. Awarded Films Festival travel and displayed in Thessaloniki, Kalamata, Tripoli, Samos, Rhodes, Lamia, Chania and other cities in the region and Greek Cyprus.”
